Private Treaty
This fall, we will be selling a select number of bred heifers. The angus heifers
were bred to the ABS bull Mytty in Focus and another ABS bull Analyst. The Red Angus heifers were bred predominately
to Dual Focus, a SimAngus bull out of Mytty in Focus (Angus) and Hummer
(Simmental).
The Red Angus heifers were pasture exposed to a SimAngus
bull purchased from Tim Ishee Simmentals in Mississippi; Mr Ishee Black Moon 720 (#2397020). The bull is out of RAB
EGL Blue Moon on the Angus side. His most recent EPDs are BW -4.5 WW 28.0 YW 66.0 and Marbling +.49.
We also purchased a purebred simmental from Ishee; Mr Ishee Hummer 726(#2397001) with
current EPDs of
BW -.7 WW 32 YW 61 and Marbling

and more importantly came in a frame score less than 6.0 (See picture left)
Steve visited Tim in May and was very impressed with his genetic program. The cattle are moderate in type and very functional
in terms of udder soundness and temperament.
We decided to breed the heifers
to Simmental to provide a source of heterosis to our customers.
We decided on Simmental as they rank first in calving ease, marbling, and weaning weight among continental breeds. We
also selected Simmentals that were average to below average milk, to maintain milk at economically viable levels. In
addition, we selected Simmentals that were in the top 25% for marbling and less than 6.0 frame score.
To sum it up, we feel we have selected cattle that will
compliment your angus based females, that will add more lbs/cow exposed, without increasing dystocia or maintenaence costs
of your cow herd.
